Ride Locations

SOUTH NORWOOD LAKE AND GROUNDS
South Norwood Lake and Grounds is a lovely park within about 3 miles of Thornton Heath accessible via many shortcuts that make the distance fly by, although there is a steep climb up Holmesdale Road next to Crystal Palace Football Club. Once in the park, there’s a lovely ride around the lake and if the ice cream van is nearby, there’s usually time for a leisurely ice-cream. If riders are feeling energetic, South Norwood Country Park is a short distance away.

SOUTH NORWOOD COUNTRY PARK
An extremely beautiful, unspoilt park within about 5 miles distance of Thornton Heath. Canny cyclists can make use of many shortcuts inaccessible to car drivers to reach this beauty spot, the only downside being the steep cycle ride up Holmesdale Road next to Crystal Palace Football Club. The park boasts a beautiful swing park for the younger cyclists and older cyclists will enjoy a lovely circular ride around the park. There is no café so a picnic lunch is recommended.
Tooting Bec Common

Tooting Bec Common

This is a very gentle ride, mainly on tarmac, on traffic-free roads, with our destination at the cafe in Tooting Bec. This ride is especially suitable for beginners because it is all flat and the shortest of our rides, totally about 7 miles there and back.

Beddington Park

Beddington Park

This ride is characterised by beautiful off-road lanes in Mitcham; car-drivers will be astounded at how close Mitcham Common is using short-cuts not accessible to cars! This ride is slightly longer, totalling about 10 miles there and back; because this ride is mainly off-road, the paths can get muddy and this ride is therefore only suitable in dry weather and for slightly older children (year 2 and above) who can manage the extra mileage.

Crystal Palace Park

Crystal Palace Park

This is a beautiful destination to enjoy some time with your children as you enjoy some well-earned refreshments after the steep climb to get there! Although the ride is quite short, about 8 miles there and back, and is on traffic-free roads, it is mainly uphill to get there but you reap the benefits on the way back, which is all downhill. For this reason, the ride is more suited to slightly older children (Year 2 and above).

Dulwich Park

Dulwich Park

A lengthy ride on tarmac roads, suitable for older children only; because this ride is slightly longer than other rides, we normally only go on this ride during the holidays, enabling us to spend a whole day in the park.

Streatham Common

Streatham Common

A very short ride of just under 5 miles, extremely suitable for younger children (infants) who are just gaining their confidence on two wheels.

Battersea Park

Battersea Park

A lovely park, just made for exploring on two wheels. This is a train-assisted ride - we take the train from Norbury which has no steps at the station, all the way to Battersea which is five minutes away from this beautiful park. This ride is especially suited to beginners because the entire ride takes place within the confines of the park. Because of the train ride, this is a ride we do during the holidays.

Clapham Common

Clapham Common

A more demanding ride to Tooting Bec and then on to Clapham Common suited to older children in Juniors. Because of the length of this ride, we only do this ride during the holidays.
